National “Joe” Day – March 27, 2020

If you could change your name to anything, what name would you choose?

National “Joe” Day is celebrated every year on March 27th to honor people named Joe. While this day is celebrated in a variety of ways, some of the most common ways to honor National “Joe” Day are by celebrating those you know personally who are named Joe or anyone famous named Joe, changing your name to your favorite version of “Joe” for the day, or changing your name for the day to any name of your choice. Also, don’t be afraid to get even more creative with how you celebrate National “Joe” Day by enjoying a nice hot cup of joe or splurging with a delicious sloppy joe or five. If anything, just take some time today to help an “average Joe” feel extra special or name yourself Joe for the day and celebrate yourself.

While National “Joe” Day is a fun opportunity to have people call you a different name temporarily for the day, what should you do if you want to permanently change your name? Generally, in order to legally change your name, you need to get permission from the appropriate Court in the county you live in by filing a Petition and presenting other supporting documentation. It’s important to understand that not everyone is eligible for a name change and you can’t legally change your name for any reason at all, there are limitations. The attorneys at Cobb Law Group are happy to talk to anyone who is interested in legally changing their name and will walk you through the necessary steps to help you make the change successfully.

If you aren’t interested in permanently changing your name, but want to join us in having some fun today, then I encourage you to celebrate National “Joe” Day by posting a comment and letting us all here at CLG know what you would change your name to if you were given the chance to change it to anything you wanted. As for me, I would choose the Hawaiian translation of my name, which is Kiliki. Why? I think the more important question is, why not?

Happy National “Joe” Day! Check out our YouTube video of Attorney Christie White where you can tell us what name you would choose!
