Attorney Kaleigh Rose Thacker

Kaleigh was born in Houston, Texas and raised on the Space Coast of Florida in Titusville.  She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Florida and obtained her law degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.  Kaleigh was a judicial extern for United States Magistrate Judge Diane K. Vescovo.  She also worked as a law clerk for the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee.  Ms. Thacker also worked with Legal Aid of Arkansas and Memphis Area Legal Services, both non-profits that provide free legal services to low-income individuals.  In recognition of performing more than 400 hours of pro bono work during law school, Ms. Thacker was recognized by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Law Student for Justice.  In 2014, the National Association of Women Lawyers named Ms. Thacker Law Student of the Year representing Memphis Law.

Kaleigh moved to Washington, D.C. after law school where she worked at a small general practice law firm in Arlington, Virginia for two years and gained experience in many areas of law.  Working for a general practice provides that a variety of legal issues come through the office and makes for a well-rounded experience.  Kaleigh worked on family law issues such as divorce, child support, child custody, alimony, and pre-nuptial agreements.  Additionally she has experience with Estate Planning including drafting Last Will and Testaments, Living Wills, Advance Medical Directives, Financial Power of Attorney’s, and Trusts.  Furthermore, she gained experience in the Elder Law field with guardianships, conservatorships, and Medicaid applications.  Property law was also an interesting area assisting clients with landlord tenant disputes, lease review, lease drafting, and a partition suit.  Registering businesses with the state corporation commission, business formation, and contract review and guardian ad litem work are also all areas where Kaleigh acquired skills.

In her down time, Kaleigh enjoys yoga, traveling, volunteering, hiking, kayaking, brewery tours, disc golf, exploring local restaurants, and attending concerts.
